Started leaning during construction due to soft ground. Took 199 years to complete with two long pauses. Leans at about 4 degrees, or 4 meters off vertical. Stabilized between 1990-2001 by removing soil from underneath. Has 8 floors including the bell chamber. Galileo allegedly dropped cannonballs from the top.
