Built in just 9 years, remarkably fast for its size. Uses no straight lines, every surface curves slightly for optical illusion. Housed a 12 meter gold and ivory statue of Athena. Converted to a Christian church in 5th century, then a mosque in 1460s. Survived intact until 1687 when a Venetian cannonball hit the gunpowder stored inside.
