One of the largest churches in the world, built over the traditional burial site of Saint Peter. Construction took about 120 years, with contributions from Bramante, Raphael, and Michelangelo, who designed the great dome. Consecrated in 1626. Bernini designed the sweeping colonnade of St. Peters Square.
