About Statue of Liberty
A gift from France, dedicated on October 28, 1886. Her full name is Liberty Enlightening the World. Made of copper sheets over an iron framework designed by Gustave Eiffel. The seven spikes on her crown represent the seven seas and continents. Her full height from ground to torch tip is 93 meters. She was copper-colored when new but turned green from oxidation by 1906.
