About Great Sphinx of Giza

Carved directly from the limestone bedrock of the Giza plateau, it is one of the oldest and largest monumental sculptures in the world. A lion with a human head, usually believed to portray the pharaoh Khafre. Its missing nose was lost centuries ago. Was buried up to its shoulders in sand for long periods of its history.
