About Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln statue is 5.8 meters tall and carved from 28 blocks of marble. Martin Luther King Jr delivered his I Have a Dream speech here. The 36 columns represent the 36 states at Lincolns death. The building is styled after the Parthenon in Athens. A typo on the wall reads ETERNALY instead of ETERNALLY. The statue was intended to be 3 meters but was enlarged.
